character analysis

After a year of suffering and catastrophe in Germany due to the holocaust Elie Wiesel had ability to overcome terrible events. In the book “Night” Elie had faced terrible and numerous selections, tragic conditions and everyday standing face to face with death. In this story it explains the miserable and harsh treatment Elie had received. He had suffered many emotional, spiritual, and logical pains, the switching of camps and the scarcity of food and in top of that fighting to survive. Through out the book he showed faith, determination, and heart- broken. Thanks to this he would have never told his story. The lesson that Elie Wiesel had shown us is to fight till the end and never give up even if it’s easy to do so.

In chapter 7 page 91, Elie Wiesel displayed one of the most important traits, which is faithfulness. In the beginning of the story he showed us that his faith was greater than any thing else. “One day I asked my father to find me a master to guide me in my studies of cabbala”. (14) Before the holocaust he proved to us that his faith was important and was serious about studying the spiritual book. “And, in spite of myself, a prayer rose in my heart to that god in whom I no longer believed. My God, Lord of the Universe, give me strength never to do what Rabbi Eliahou’s son has done.”(97) Elie troubled about his faith, but in this quote he showed us that he still had some faith in which he turn to for courage. Elie had the strength to turn to god and ask for courage in spite of him not believing. Due to his faith he had the strength to keep on going and fight to the end. Not only did he show us this trait but also determination.

Elie is a man with many traits and another trait he displays is determination. Elie Wiesel shows us the determination by holding on and not abandoning his dad. While running forty- two miles with the SS soldiers with guns and shooting men that stop Elie preferred to die there and then but his determination didn’t allow him. “I had no right to let myself die. What would he do without me? I was his only support.”(93). Elie portrayed determination because he stood by his dad and encourage him to keep on going. If Elie would have never kept on going he would have died and his story would be held in silence. Not telling his experience in the holocaust and taking it to the grave with him. Unfortunately this led to next trait which is heart- broken.

Due to all his experience in the holocaust Elie has one last trait that impacted his life that caused him to be heart- broken. “A lorry drew up at the pit and delivered its load-little children. Babies! Yes, I saw it- saw it with my own eye… those children in the flames.”

“How is it possible to burn people, children, and the world to keep silent?”(41) In the holocaust Elie witness many terrible events in which humans mistreated humans. Elie witness how a group of race destroyed another’s people truth, dignity, morality and souls. This really impacts a person attitude towards life making them see the world with cruelty. He showed us that it’s ok to feel this way because with all you been through it makes you a better person.

Throughout the story “night” many horrible events tested Elie’s character trait. He proved to us that he has a remaining faith with in him. He prays to a god he no longer believes in but still shows this faith by asking him for fortitude. In this book Elie proved to us that he was determined. He proved it by holding on to life even after the death of his father and being a holocaust survival. If he would have never displayed this trait he would have never written a book in which it holds his tragic experience. The most dreadful trait he showed was heart-broken where he told his experience in a moving way. Elie showed us many traits in his book and thanks to him, his voice can be heard.

poem

Angels Hugging Angels

Have you ever found a friend that just touches you deep inside
You feel a special bond that you simply cannot hide
You give them a piece of your heart, a view of what you are
Sometimes they live close to you, sometimes they live too far.

It really doesn’t matter, you were friends from the start
Soon you realize their memory is a piece of your heart
You feel like they’re an angel, placed here just for you
You are always amazed at the sweet things that they do.

You don’t have to see them or talk to them every day
To know that God has sent them in His own special way
How else could you explain, this friendship and deep love
It must be an angel, sent from heaven above.

How can you love someone you’ve never really seen
The question you may ask, Is this just a dream?
Soon you realize, your feelings are quite sincere
Your friendship will continue year after year.

Funny when you talk you both seem to disagree
I think you’re the angel and you think it is me
When you really look at it, you have to smile and say
The touching of our souls has taken place again today.

Tonight as I said my prayers, I prayed for my friend
I could not hardly wait until we talked once again
For God showed me the answer, it was really quite simple
A soul never sees a face, it would not recognize a dimple.

The feeling of love one feels for another friend
The feeling of wanting to be with each other again
Is the inner joy, that God places there
The love one feels on top of heaven’s stairs.

So if you are lucky and you have found such a friend
Remember it is God, who lives deep within
It is God’s wishes, to one day look to see
Angels Hugging Angels, perhaps it’s you and me.

tone- the tone of the angel hugging angels is friendly, respectful, and admiring

 figurative languege-

In angels hugging angles each stanza is breaken down in 4 lines. This 4 lines are known as quatrain. this quatrian have some type of rhyme. They make up rhyme scheme either if its rhyme or near rhyme. The near rhyme is stanza 4 is “sincere” and “year” they sound alike, an example of rhyme is “inside” and” hide”. Through out the poem  it contains a metaphor of angels and humans. It shows how in reality humans are angels due to the love. In stanza 1 its aa,bb,cc and in stanza 2 its dd,ee,ff.

Quetzalcoatl (aztec god)

tn_quetzalcoatl.jpg

While I was looking though this website I found this Aztec god interesting. Quetzalcoatl was an Aztec god. It was said he was the god of the sky and a wise legislator. This god created human by going to the under world and grabbing a pile of human bones then sprinkling his own blood. His myth was said that he was seduced by Tezcatlipoca. After his death he became the morning-star. Many people that follow him and a religion said that Quetzalcoatl will return. Due to Hernan Cortes arrive they thought he was that one god. I learned that in many other myths there is one god that creates humans and other things. This Aztec god was know for  going into the underworld talking to the god of underworld and receiving a pile of bone later he sprinkling some of his  a new spices of human beings. This give me a good explanation of how each country have there own myths. For example, Greek and Rome.I can connect this with my life experience and my roots from Mexico. Also this can help me on learning on Greece and its myths.

I got this facts here: http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/americas/aztec/articles.html
